I just found VMware KB: ESXi 5.x host fails with a purple diagnostic screen when using LSI MegaRAID SAS Driver which appears to be the relevant issue. Or at least for #2. I will try it at least. Since last lockup was basically when backup exec whined a month? ago, no clue how easy this will be to test. Or to install, looking at the installation instructions. sigh, I knew I should have kept that cracker jacks decoder ring....
I have no idea why Symantec Backup Exec hates esx 5.1, although could be same problem?
